Promotion of the book “Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija” in the 20th and 21st centuries

On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Small Hall of the Kolarac National University in Belgrade, the promotion of the book “Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija in the 20th and 21st centuries” was held. Academician Slavenko Terzić, MP Dragomir J. spoke about the book. Karić, university professors Radivoje Papović, Milivoje Pavlović and Živko Kulić, as well as the author Deragoslav S. Cetkovic. The program was led by journalist Dragana Kovačević Rakočević, and sisters Vera and Neda Stolić took us through the beauty of songs about Kosovo and Metohija with the songs “Oj Lazare” and “Suza Kosova”. In addition to the large audience, the promotion was attended by His Eminence, the Bishop of Hvostan, Mr. Aleksej, founder of the Karić Brothers Foundation, Olivera Karić Nedeljković, academician Svetislav Božić, prof. Dr. Tomislav Đokić, Jadranka Jovanović, General Secretary of the Cultural and Educational Community of Serbia Živorad Ajdačić, Professor Uroš Dojčinović, Academician Nenad Kostić, former State Secretary Aleksandar Gajović, as well as many prominent personalities whose biographies have appeared in this edition.

For more than forty years, the publishing activity of the Braća Karić Foundation has been guided by the idea of preserving and nurturing the material and spiritual values of our people, it invests efforts in the preservation of cultural and historical monuments, churches, monasteries, especially in Kosovo and Metohija.

The Braća Karić Foundation recognized the importance of the book authored by professor Dragoslav S. Ćetković, “Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija in the 20th and 21st centuries”, which was presented to the public for the first time at this year’s Book Fair in Belgrade. As the editor-in-chief, this book is signed by prof. Dr. Radivoje Papović, long-term rector of the University of Pristina, i.e. Kosovska Mitrovica, and the reviewers are Dr. Milivoje Pavlović and Dr. Dušan Popovac.

On this project, a biographical lexicon, the publishing house “Obeležje +” and the Braća Karić Foundation, the first private foundation after the Second World War, joined forces.

In terms of volume and content, there are over 650 biographical units and close to two hundred photographs that are presented on about 700 pages of the book.

The content consists of biographies from the second half of the 20th century and the first 20 years of the 21st century. In the conception, it is foreseen that these should be persons who have made a very significant contribution to the development of Kosovo and Metohija, and in this way they will be preserved from oblivion.

Through the content, a historical account of events in Kosovo and Metohija from early times to the present day is presented, and there is a written trace of people who marked a time with their actions and existence as professors, academics, doctors, engineers, businessmen, cultural, sports and all other creators. .

The book was published with the blessing of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirij, and the publishing committee consisted of: Milanka Karić, Danica Karić Stojilković, Dragomir J. Karić, Ljubiša Maravić, Dušan Pavlović and Branko Radeč.
