At this year’s Ethno Food Fair, a delegation of the Karić Brothers Foundation visited the stand of women from Kosovo and Metohija, continuing its long-standing presence and support for the Serbian community in the region.

Known for its sustained humanitarian and cultural engagement, the Foundation has, since its establishment, remained closely connected to the preservation of heritage, education, and support for those in need across Serbia and the wider region.
“Our thanks go to you for visiting us and encouraging us to continue our work. The Karić Foundation has been present in Kosovo and Metohija for many years, and your support gives us strength and motivation,” representatives of the women’s associations shared.

The fair brought together women of different generations, mothers, grandmothers, and daughters-in-law, whose work is deeply tied to the preservation of tradition. Through associations and informal groups, they maintain customs, songs, and traditional cuisine from their region. Their work is carried forward independently, supported by their own effort and commitment.
The association Tradition Through the Centuries, led by Danijela Simonović Mitić, was founded in 2022. The vocal group Kosovke has been active since 2024, while the Society of Serbian Hosts was established in 2025. Today, these initiatives bring together around one hundred women from across Kosovo and Metohija.
“Our goal is to preserve everything that forms part of the identity of the Serbian people, from customs and songs to traditional Kosovo bread, which we are working to document and protect as part of our intangible cultural heritage. We see ourselves as guardians of tradition and as protectors of our community,” said Simonović Mitić.
From its beginnings, the Karić Brothers Foundation has maintained a close relationship with the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija. Its work has included support for women, young people, and older members of the community who carry forward tradition in everyday life. Through various initiatives, the Foundation has contributed to the restoration of monasteries, the organization of cultural programs, and support for education and healthcare.
At the fair, this connection was expressed through direct encounter, conversation, and mutual recognition.
Special words of gratitude were addressed to the Karić family:
“I would like to greet the Karić family and thank them for visiting us at the Ethno Food Fair. They are deeply respected in Kosovo and Metohija. As a family, they remain close to their roots, they visit our monasteries, and they stand with their people. When we speak of them, we feel a sense of trust and respect. They carry forward what they have inherited and remain an example to all of us who live here,” said Danijela Simonović Mitić.
