Professor Dr. Živko Kulić, one of the speakers at the book promotion, gave special importance to the historical and cultural significance of such work and pointed out that the book Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija is much more than an ordinary collection of biographies, it is a testimony to the courage and perseverance of the Serbian people who guarded and preserved the Orthodox Christian faith and culture in those parts for centuries. Professor Kulić also said that this book is essential reading for everyone who wants to understand the deep roots of our nation extending back to ancient times in Kosovo and Metohija.
An extremely emotional speech at this special event was given by Milanka Karić, honorary president of the Karić Brothers Foundation, who underlined her family’s deep ties with Kosovo and Metohija and the importance of preserving the Serbian cultural and spiritual heritage in that sacred part of our country. With sincere pride, Milanka Karić pointed out that the Karić family through the Foundation has been dedicated to the support and promotion of Serbian heritage for many decades, stressing the importance of the book Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija as a lasting testimony of people who made an immeasurable contribution to the history and culture of that region.
The editor of the book, Nikola Radanović, particularly emphasized the importance of photographs and documents that complete the content, pointing out that this lexicon is one of the most complete and valuable sources for anyone researching the history of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. The promotion program was presented in a very inspired way by the talented Jasmina Stoiljković, the champion of the National Theater in Priština.
The author of the book, prof. Dr. Dragoslav Ćetković explained that this exceptional lexicon was created as a result of his many years of dedication and desire to preserve the memory of people who marked Kosovo and Metohija with their lives and actions in the hardest moments of history. “This book is not just a document of the past, but it is also a guide to the future. Our holy land of Kosovo and Metohija lives through the actions of those people, and that is a testament that we must pass on to future generations,” said Ćetković.
The promotion of the book Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija in the 20th and 21st century was a strong message about the importance of preserving our heritage and remembering the people who marked the history of our southern province with their work.
