The Karić Brothers Foundation once more confirmed its commitment to the preservation of Serbia’s cultural heritage by awarding a prestigious award – the statue of a trumpeter, which was presented by Mr. Dragomir Karić together with the youngest members of the Karić family. The statue, as a symbol of artistic and cultural greatness, was presented to the best trumpet player of the 63rd Dragačevo Festival, Mihajlo Zećirović from the orchestra of Isidor Zećirović.
Also, the Foundation is very proud of its contribution to erecting a monument to the trumpeter in the center of Guča, which has been a constant reminder of the importance and duration of this musical tradition for years. This year, already the third generation of the Karić family took part in the awarding of the prize for the best trumpeter at the festival – Tara, Nadežda, Luka, Lazar, Mihajlo, Filip and Teodor, together with their great-grandfather and grandfather Dragomir Karić, continued to cherish what is most valuable in our nation – our bright and great tradition. Next to family values, tradition is the most worthy and important value that makes up one nation. The Karić family is proud that for more than half a century, with its activities and the Karić Brothers Foundation, it has preserved and nurtured the most valuable traditions of the Serbian people and family values.
After the award, Dragomir Karić said that Serbian Guča is no longer just Serbian – it has become global and is on the world map and at the very top of the best world festivals. Everyone has heard about Guča in Serbia and, our trumpeters and our Serbian tradition have survived even in these difficult times and have been transmitting our values to the entire world for more than six decades. Only with the help of individuals and sometimes of the state, this event has survived to this day and represents the pearl of Serbian tradition. The Karić Brothers Foundation is proud to have supported the festival in Guča for decades and will continue to do so in the future. Foundation is ready to become even more involved in supporting the festival in Guča and to launch an initiative to include the festival in the UNESCO list of intangible world heritage. Guča has long since become the world center of the trumpet, and during the festival people gather from all over Serbia, the region and the whole world. This festival is another asset and a great chance for tourism in Serbia and the entire region, that can attract hundreds of thousands of tourists.
This festival, organized by the Municipality of Lučani and partner organizations, ended with a festive concert by the winning orchestras, and special appearances by the well-known names of folk music. The Karić Brothers Foundation will continue to support this festival in the coming years, preserving the spirit of Serbian tradition and passing it on to future generations.
