Karić Brothers Foundation at the Fourth Serbian Diaspora Book Fair: A New Cooperation Agreement Signed

The Karić Brothers Foundation took part in the Fourth Serbian Diaspora Book Fair, held from February 28 to March 1 at the Selma Kultur Center in Gothenburg. The occasion coincided with a significant milestone, fifty years of sustained humanitarian work and social engagement. At the fair, the Foundation presented a selection of its publications, alongside initiatives that have, over time, shaped its presence both in Serbia and among Serbian communities abroad.

Over the decades, the Foundation has grown into a point of continuity and care, grounded in a lasting relationship with cultural heritage. Its work is closely tied to the preservation of the Serbian language, script, and tradition, while remaining attentive to family life and the needs of those requiring support. Through activities in education, culture, and social care, it continues to bring people into closer connection, strengthening ties between the homeland and the diaspora and sustaining a shared sense of belonging.

Within this broader work, a distinct place is held by the Karić Brothers Awards, presented each year to individuals whose contributions resonate across different areas of public life, in Serbia and beyond. These recognitions reflect a regard for dedication, creativity, and responsibility toward the wider community.

During the fair, Dana Karić, President of the Foundation, led a panel discussion titled “Love for Family Is Life’s Greatest Blessing.” Speaking about the role of family in shaping stable and supportive environments, she reflected on its enduring importance. As she noted, family remains the space where connection begins, and where values take form in everyday life.

The gathering also opened space for future collaboration. A Cooperation Agreement in Cultural Activities was signed between the Karić Brothers Foundation and the Creative Communication Initiative from Sweden, marking the beginning of joint efforts focused on preserving Serbian culture and identity in an international context.

Among those present was Jelena Čukić Matic, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Sweden, who visited the Foundation’s stand and expressed appreciation for its long-standing work and its role in maintaining ties within Serbian communities abroad.

With its headquarters in Belgrade, the Karić Brothers Foundation continues, even after five decades, to move forward with steadiness and care. This anniversary offers a moment to reflect on a path shaped by continuity, responsibility, and attention to others. The gathering in Gothenburg brought that presence into view once again, within both cultural life and humanitarian work, across Serbia and the diaspora.
